I've had a lifelong interest in imagery, design and composition. Through my youth I studied drawing & painting which led me eventually to Art School in London, I swiftly embraced the moving image & animation, developing a deep interest in the techniques of character animation, the history of the form and a thorough knowledge of it's leading exponents and modern techniques. I pioneered computer animation at my university, eventually producing an internationally award winning short film as my graduation piece.

In the ten years since then I have broadened my skillset and horizons, working as a freelancer in many different fields from commercials to Children's series development.

The graph below is perhaps a help in illustrating my capabilities and experience at various “hands-on” tasks. I am not a specialist - so it would be misleading to pretend to be an absolute “master” at any one particular thing. Likewise there are areas in which I have a strong theoretical understanding (eg character animation) but don’t actually get to do much of it myself. To further illustrate the point...while I fully understand the concept of dynamic muscle driven character deformation - I couldn’t sit down and rig such a system without a few days buried in the manual!
