Series Design & Development
"Tronji"
Client: Ragdoll Productions
I was delighted to
work for the illustrious Ragdoll Productions joining the team in the
development of their most recent hit series "Tronji" for
children aged 6-8, recently launched on the BBC. The series is set
in a fantasy "Tronjiworld" beset with unfortunate mishaps
known as "wobble"...which upset the status quo. Children
from our (parallel) world are recruited - in cartoon character guise
- to utilize their own special talents to solve tricky problems and
put Tronji-world back together again to produce "Happiness"!
The environments are fantastical; simple yet imaginative. The characters
are designed from simple shapes to perform the special "tronji"
tasks that make them happy :)
...I had a wonderful
role exploring episode design, expanding and developing written ideas
into three dimensions and bringing characters and environments to
life: an interesting mixture of problem solving and design. I'd then
present my artwork and ideas for discussion...and finally receive
a brief for the next episode. It proved an extremely enjoyable task
with a terrific team and much fun was had around the meeting room
table!
The work below (along
with many notes & other sketches from the production team) was
used as a pictorial guide for the production of the final episodes.
Here is some of my
work on the project (all work posted is 100%
my own) there were also oodles of roughs & diagrams but i couldn't
begin to scan them all in and get them online!!
...with
many thanks to Ragdoll. |
